kaiKai is Professor of Information Technology and Organisation in the Discipline of Business Information Systems. He has extensive experience with industry-funded research and leads the School’s strategic research initiative on Enterprise 2.0 and Corporate Social Media. He is the founder and leader of the Digital Disruption Research Group and organiser of the DISRUPT.SYDNEY conference.

His expertise spans the fields of E-Collaboration, social media, Enterprise 2.0, inter-firm networking, virtual work, and the philosophy of technology. In a recent series of projects he studies the proliferation of Enterprise Social Networking in various Australian organisations and the resulting management implications with a view to understand better how people make sense of new technologies in practice.

Starting in digital channels during the dot-com boom in London, Iain quickly realised that digital alone can’t solve an organisation’s problems. He realised it is critical to understand the needs and behaviours of people and to use these insights as an additional data point to inform strategic decision-making.

Iain is passionate about enthusing others with the power of human-centred design. He has spoken at various conferences in Australia, the USA and Europe. He is currently leading Meld Studios’ design capability building team.
